It was built in the Vallette district of Turin on the site of the former Stadio delle Alpi, construction began in 2009 and it opened on September 8, 2011. With a capacity of 41,689 spectators, it is the first modern club-owned football stadium in Italy. The stadium was designed by architects Hernando Suárez and Gino Zavanella, as well as designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. With its modern steel and glass facade, closed roof, and close-set stands, it is considered one of the most beautiful football stadiums in Europe.
